A Full Deck Resurface with a New Privacy Wall in Emmaus, PA

Before we started, this Emmaus deck had an aging wood surface and railing, with the space underneath used mostly for storage. The staircase down to the yard had also worn past the point of a simple repair.

We tore the old decking down to the framing and rebuilt from there, resurfacing the deck in Deckorators Voyage composite decking in Sierra, framed with a single-board picture frame border and matching stair treads, fascia, and risers. The staircase was rebuilt as part of the project, finished with the same black aluminum railing and 2.5-inch balusters that run the length of the deck.

Along one side, we built a composite privacy wall with horizontal Sierra slats and black posts, giving the deck a more private, framed-in feel without closing off the whole space. Built-in planters along the railing carry the same finish, so the greenery reads as part of the design rather than an add-on.

What was a worn deck with a cluttered underside and a tired staircase is now a fully resurfaced outdoor space with a rebuilt staircase and a privacy wall that adds both style and function.
