A Wood Pergola Deck Becomes a Clean Black-and-Terra Resurface in Hackettstown, NJ
Before we started, this Hackettstown deck had an aging wood surface and a wood lattice-roofed pergola shading part of the space. The layout worked well for the property, but the materials had run their course.
We resurfaced the deck down to the frame in Deckorators Summit composite decking in Terra, framed with a double board picture frame border for a more layered, finished edge, and matching stair treads, fascia, and risers. The old pergola came down as part of the project rather than being rebuilt, opening the deck up to more direct sky. A black aluminum railing with 2.5-inch posts and a wood-tone Sedona cocktail top rail runs the full perimeter, finished with solar-powered post cap lighting and vinyl lattice skirting below.
What was a shaded deck under an aging pergola is now an open, resurfaced space with a cleaner, more modern railing and decking pairing.
