A Deck Reborn Above the Fields in Slatington, PA
See how we resurfaced a 2nd-floor deck in Slatington, PA with Deckorators Summit Boulder decking, a picture-frame border, and a black aluminum Rapid Rail railing.

A full resurface of a 2nd-floor deck, finished with Deckorators Summit Boulder decking and a black aluminum railing overlooking the open farmland.
This Slatington deck sits two stories up off the back of the house, looking out over open farm fields, and it had reached the point where the old wood surface and railing needed more than another round of maintenance. The footprint and structure underneath were sound, so the plan was a full resurface rather than a rebuild.

We stripped the old wood decking and railing down to the frame and rebuilt the surface in Deckorators Summit composite in Boulder, finished with a single-board picture frame border in the same color along the perimeter. The stair treads down to the patio below are Deckorators Venture in a matching Boulder tone, so the color reads consistent from the top of the deck all the way down the stairs.

For the railing, we installed a black aluminum Rapid Rail system with 2.5-inch aluminum posts around the full perimeter and down the stairs. Against the warm tone of the Boulder decking and the home's white siding, the black railing gives a clean, low-maintenance look that holds up against the weather this deck sees at that height.

With the resurface finished, the same deck that used to need constant upkeep now sits ready to use, with a clear line of sight over the yard and the farmland beyond. If your own deck's surface and railing have reached the point where a resurface makes more sense than another repair, we'd be glad to walk the space with you and talk through what's possible.
