A Screened Porch and Deck Resurface Come Together in Coopersburg, PA

Before we started, this Coopersburg home had an older wood deck and a wood-framed screened porch that had both seen better days. The decking had worn and damaged boards, the porch fascia had water damage in more than one spot, and the screens themselves were torn and sagging.

The project covered both structures. On the porch, we replaced the screens and screen doors, wrapped the support columns in white vinyl, covered the roof support beam in white PVC, and installed a new screen system under the porch floor. Inside, we ran a horizontal cable railing with a Khaya cocktail top rail along the open side, giving the porch an open sightline to the yard without losing the screened enclosure.

On the deck itself, we resurfaced both levels in Deckorators Summit composite decking in Boulder, laying the elevated section in a diagonal picture-frame pattern for a more custom look. A black aluminum railing runs the elevated section, LED wedge lights light the stair risers after dark, and the space below is closed up with vertical composite skirting.

What was a worn wood deck and a tired screened porch is now one connected outdoor living space, ready for both open-air lounging and screened-in evenings.
