A Sagging Deck Becomes a Golden-Hour Retreat in Milford, NJ

Before we started, this elevated deck in Milford had done its job for years, but it was showing real wear underneath. The support structure had developed a sag, and underneath the deck, moisture had gotten into the framing, leaving water-damaged, algae-stained joists that needed more than a surface refresh to fix.

The plan called for a full resurface with structural repair to the sagging support, along with removing the existing gazebo so we could rebuild the deck underneath it properly before setting it back in place.

We resurfaced the deck in Deckorators Venture composite decking in Sandbar, framed with a picture-frame border and matching stair treads, fascia, and risers. A black aluminum railing with 2.5-inch aluminum posts runs the full perimeter and down the 12-step staircase to the yard, finished with a black aluminum safety gate at the top of the stairs. Once the frame and decking were solid, we reinstalled the gazebo so the homeowner's outdoor kitchen and seating area could go right back to where they'd left it.

What was a deck with a sagging support and damaged framing is now a solid, resurfaced outdoor living space, ready for another round of dinners under the gazebo.
